Hotel Acceptable, Milton Keynes.
A morning at home in Bredonborough, visiting neighbours with cards & small presents. I find this moving, and would that there were more time available for this. And that the Slinky Minx were with me.
Final catchings-up & organising so that when I bring T home tomorrow night she will have a fabbo day off. Being very very nasty to poor Snow White is hard work, and one day is not quite enough time to fully celebrate Christmas.
Just About Ready I…Just About Ready II…
Some Crafties may note that, on top of the Welsh cupboard to the left, is the bust of Lord David Cecil (Oxford professor of literature) that stayed with the Red Lion House (1986-89) when we acquired it from his executors. Recently, I acquired the oil portrait on the right from an antique dealer in Wilton. This is of Blanche, daughter of Lord Eustace Cecil, painted in 1895. I am not sure quite of her familial relationship to Lord David (to be researched). Immediately behind the photographer is a Victorian drop-leaf mahogany table, damaged & left at the RLH. I had it repaired, and it continues close to Lord David.
These two conjoined rooms are where we will be celebrating our family Christmas with Toyah’s Parents.
This afternoon: a drive to Milton Keynes & catching most of the second half of Snow White. This evening: cheering for the Wicked Queen’s outrageous behaviour (about the only one doing so) with pals Ali, Terin & Michele.
Back to the hotel and our no-smoking corridor, filled with the stench of smoke wafting from one or more no-smoking rooms adjoining. Pooey pooey.
